For the latest NORD menu Chef Daniel Heffy was keen to bring in some change with the presentation of his food and has collaborated with Annie Moon to create a collection of ceramics that are reflective of NORD and bring a different element to the dining experience.

Annie shared with us the process she went through to create the ceramics especially for NORD.

There is a definite vision in mind when considering the design for the dishes in Nord. For me, this is a huge opportunity to have my creations used in a restaurant with the reputation and unique design it has – and I wanted my ceramics to mirror the shapes and palette you are immersed into when dining there.

One of the designs for the new menu mirror a piece I initially worked on with Dan for another project – a narrow bowl with a ballooned rim, cohesive to aspects in the interior of the restaurant. Initially a smaller dish in a charcoal finish. For this collection, a dish of the same shape has been enlarged and completely glazed in a terracotta/plum sheen for a smooth finish.

Each dish has been hand thrown on a potters wheel in my studio in the north of Liverpool. Because of this, each piece holds its own uniqueness, not just in this instance considering the complexity of the design, but with each of my pieces. Whether a small jug or large dish, it holds a distinctiveness to both Nord, and to my own practice.
